What is HTML?

HTML is defined as hypertext markup language. We like to describe this as the “skeleton” of your website. More technically, HTML defines the structure of your web page and is the building blocks of a website.

What is CSS?

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet. In nontechnical jargon, CSS is all the cool stuff that makes you *you*, your hair color, clothes choices, eye color, what awesome shoes you wore and which backpack you put on. CSS is what controls how the HTML is displayed on a website or application.

Web development is a broad term for the work involved in developing a website or web application for the Internet. This includes more code-related tasks such as coding HTML and CSS. This class will cover the basics of HTML/CSS including but not limited to:

  • HTML Elements
  • HTML Tags
  • HTML Attributes
  • Linking HTML & CSS
  • CSS Rules – Individual Components
  • CSS Selector – What element(s) to style
  • CSS Property – What aspect to style
  • The Box Model
  • CSS Layouts
  • CSS3 Properties
  • CSS Pseudo Selectors
